Message from Federal Health

Federal Health Minister As the Federal Health Minister, it is an honor to address the remarkable contributions of Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex, Lahore. Recognized as one of the country premier medical institutions, it has consistently provided exemplary healthcare services while producing highly skilled postgraduate medical professionals for over three decades.

The global shortage of medical practitioners is a pressing concern, and our nation is particularly affected by this challenge. Pakistan continues to grapple with high infant and maternal mortality rates, underscoring the urgent need for strengthened healthcare services. While the average life expectancy of Pakistanis has significantly improved—from 40 years in 1978 to 61 years today—it remains markedly lower than the 81-year average in developed nations. In 1971, the country had only 3,000 doctors, highlighting the immense progress we have made in expanding our medical workforce.

The Government remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the highest quality healthcare services for every citizen, recognizing access to adequate medical care as a fundamental right. Through continued investment in medical education, healthcare infrastructure, and policy initiatives, we aim to further enhance the nation's health standards and improve the well-being of all.
